We are fast approaching Bonfire Night, so what better time for Game Of Thrones' Kit Harington to be planning a drama about the ill-fated attempt to blow up the House Of Lords in 1605?

It's something that has been on Harington's mind for a while now, as he revealed earlier this year that he's a direct descendant from Robert Catesby, one of those involved in the gunpowder plot. The planned drama, which reportedly has the Beeb and production company Kudos interested, would follow the attempt by Catesby, Guy Fawkes and a group of English Catholics to detonate gunpowder in tunnels beneath the Palace Of Westminster to kill King James I in the hopes of putting a Catholic back on the throne. The attempt famously failed and is still commemorated to this day.

It's early days for the project, currently known as Gunpowder but it'll apparently comprise three hour-long episodes, and Harington may well have a hand in the script as well as producing via his Thriker Films company. He'll (spoiler alert in case you're not up to date) be back for more Thrones next year and has also worked on Western thriller Brimstone, which will screen at the London Film Festival this month.
