Chinese co-productions are big in Hollywood right now, with studios and production companies pushing to include more Chinese elements to attract funding. Keanu Reeves is among those looking for a little help, and he's set up action thriller Rally Car with Harald Zwart to direct.

Zwart is also no stranger to Chinese co-productions after directing the Karate Kid re-make there. For Rally Car, he has a script by Spy Kids' Jeremy Lott that sees Reeves as a former champion NASCAR driver who refuses to admit his glory days are in the rear view mirror. But when his personal and professional lives begin to hit the skids, he's forced to take part in a high stakes international rally across the Chinese landscape along with a young Chinese girl as his co-driver to prove he's still got it.

“This is a story that will resonate with audiences worldwide and we’re looking forward to the thrilling ride Harald Zwart will be taking us on,” producer and Fundamental Films chairman Mark Gao tells Deadline. “The project promises to be action-packed, full of high-octane car-chases, heart-pumping adventure and visually stunning locations to showcase some of the most dramatic landscapes of China.” There's no word yet on when it'll start shooting.

Reeves will next be seen in legal thriller The Whole Truth and is back as John Wick for the ass-kicking sequel.
