Katherine Waterston Joins Jonah Hill's Mid-90s
Jonah Hill is already shooting his directorial debut, coming-of-age tale Mid-90s. But he's had to make a change to one of the leads, with Katherine Waterston taking over for the previously-cast Michelle Williams.
Written by Hill, the film sees a boy named Stevie (Sunny Suljic) learning life lessons in Los Angeles in the 1990s, spending time with his skateboarding friends and navigating the tricky waters of drinking, drugs, sex and peer pressure on the edge of his teenage years.
Waterston is his mother, a co-dependent single mother struggling to make ends meet. And while Williams is no longer aboard, one of her former Manchester By The Sea cast mates, Lucas Hedges, remains attached as Stevie's older brother.
Hill and Suljic have a history, having worked on Gus Van Sant's latest, Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot. As for Waterston, she was last seen in Alien: Covenant and will appear in Logan Lucky (out 25 August) and the Fantastic Beasts sequel.
