With shooting scheduled for May, the new reboot version of Japanese horror tale The Grudge has been hiring the cast it needs. John Cho is now on to star.

Cho joins Andrea Riseborough and Demián Bichir in the new story, which will find a police officer (Riseborough) confronting new supernatural terror that threatens her children. Variety's report doesn't mention what role Cho will play.

The Eye's Of My Mother's Nicolas Pesce is directing the film, which Jeff Buhler has adapted from Takashi Shimizu's original script. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are producing via their Ghost House Pictures company for Sony, and the film represents the latest attempt by Stateside filmmakers to take on the Grudge franchise.

While he recently finished working on comedy thriller The Oath, Cho has been getting some horror experience under his belt in the last couple of years, appearing on the Exorcist TV series.
