The gods of scheduling heard our plea! Actually, it's more likely that Netflix always planned to announce the actual date for the fourth season of Black Mirror with a new trailer, but we'll continue to wrap ourselves in the fantasy that we brought word of the 29 December date into the world.

After a series of teasers for each episode, the new trailer adds some additional footage from the six shows headed our way shortly before 2017 breathes its last. This season's vintage include the likes of parent-terror tale Arkangel, written by series creator Charlie Brooker and directed by Jodie Foster, the warped take on Star Trek, USS Callister from writer William Bridges and director Toby Haynes, apocalyptic chase story Metalhead from Brooker (with Hannibal's David Slade calling the shots) and noir Crocodile, another Brooker script, brought this time to life by John Hillcoat.

On screen, expect such performers as Andrea Riseborough, Jesse Plemons, Rosemarie DeWitt and Maxine Peake. Netflix will release the entire season at once on the 29th. Dark tales of fear and suspicion: perfect for that post-Yuletide lull!
