No, Supernatural fans, new thriller Winchester is not about the titular creature-hunting brothers. It does, however, have a supernatural flare. Helen Mirren is already aboard the movie and now Jason Clarke is jumping aboard.

Peter and Michael Spierig are directing this one, having written the script with Tom Vaughan. The story follows Sarah Winchester (Mirren), heiress to the firearms firm fortune who begins to worry that she's being haunted by the ghosts of people killed by Winchester repeating rifles.

Following the death of her husband and child, she decides to plunge her cash reserves into building a giant mansion she hopes will keep the evil spirits at bay. Clarke is set to play a skeptical San Francisco psychiatrist sent by her estate to evaluate her state of mind, only to discover – well, it is the Spierig brothers in charge – that she might have a point...

The Spierigs are gearing up to shoot in California and Australia, and we can likely expect the film next year. Clarke, last seen in Everest, has several films on the way, including All I See Is You, racial drama Mudbound and World War II thriller HHhH.
