When you've got Hugh Jackman's Wolverine as the hero in your story, you need some real opposition to go up against him. Director James Mangold thinks he might have found his main antagonist for Wolverine 3 in Narcos' Boyd Holbrook.

The actor, who played Agent Steve Murphy on Netflix's drug cartel drama, will be the driven, demanding and lethally smart head of security for a global company who will go up against Jackman's Logan.

Not much else is known about the film officially yet, though rumours have persisted that it could be drawn from stories of the hero's later years. What is locked down is Patrick Stewart reprising his role as the older Professor Xavier and a script from David James Kelly.

More will be ferreted out soon as the third Wolverine film – Jackman's last, according to the actor – is scheduled to start shooting next month. As for Holbrook, he'll be seen in Jane Got A Gun, out April 22, indie drama The Free World and Terrence Malick's Weightless.
