Hayley Atwell, Matthew Macfadyen And More On For Howards End Miniseries

Hayley Atwell and Matthew Mcfadyen

Famously brought to cinema screens by the Merchant Ivory team in 1992, E.M. Forster's tale of family, class and social divisions Howards End will be adapted into a miniseries starring Hayley Atwell, Matthew Macfadyen and Tracey Ullman.

Manchester By The Sea's Kenneth Lonergan is writing the four episodes that will comprise the new series with Doctor Who/Fortitude director Hettie Macdonald calling the shots.

Forster's novel explores the changing societal landscapes of turn of the (last) century England through the stories of three families: the intellectual and idealistic Schlegels, the wealthy Wilcoxes from the world of business, and the working class Basts. Atwell is on to play Margaret Schlegel, with Macfadyen as Henry Wilcox and Ullman appearing as Aunt Juley Mund.

With US cable network Starz co-producing the series with the BBC, the show will shoot in and around London this year, but has no confirmed air date right now.
