As he began to put the final pieces in place to make his next movie, The Shape Of Water, Guillermo del Toro has been quiet about many of the details. But as shooting kicks off, we finally know more about the cast and setting.

The announcement from Fox Searchlight includes confirmation that Richard Jenkins is in the cast alongside Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Michael Stuhlbarg, Octavia Spencer and Doug Jones.

Del Toro worked on the script with Vanessa Taylor, and the movie is officially described as an otherworldly tale set against the backdrop of 1960s America in the grip of the Cold War. Beyond that, there are no details, though we do know it involves a mysterious creature.

"I started working on The Shape Of Water right around the time we moved to Toronto for Pacific Rim,"says the writer/director. "Working with Fox Searchlight and being supported by this beautiful group of actors and artists, I feel extremely blessed and brave."

“It feels like we have an embarrassment of riches on this film. An ensemble of incredible actors who are working at the very top of their craft, a wildly original story from Guillermo's one-of-a-kind mind, and the brilliant team at Fox Searchlight to shepherd us along. We’re all very excited to see how far we can take it,” says J. Miles Dale, who is producing the movie. The cameras are rolling now in Toronto and the movie should be out next year.
