Alice Eve has already boldly gone where no one has gone before in Star Trek Into Darkness. Now she’s set for slightly less otherworldly science-fiction, it seems: the British actress has signed up to star as the female lead in Replicas.

She joins Keanu Reeves, who climbed aboard way back in October. According to Deadline, the film is a futuristic indie thriller which sees Reeves play Will Foster, a neuroscientist whose wife (played by Eve) is killed in a car crash. Foster becomes obsessed with bringing her back to life, and creates a clone to allow her memories to live on.

If this all sounds rather a lot like that episode of Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror with Hayley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson, well, yes, we thought so too.

Jeffrey Nachmanoff – thus far best known for scripting duties on blockbuster fare like The Day After Tomorrow and The Tourist – is in the director’s chair for this one, with veteran Hollywood impresario Lorenzo di Bonaventura on producing duties.

Eve can next be seen in heist comedy The Brits Are Coming, followed by period drama The Stolen; while Reeves has John Wick: Chapter Two on the horizon.
