After flying high (both in terms of subject and critical/awards/box office response) with Gravity, director, writer and producer Alfonso Cuaron is looking a little closer to home for his next movie. He's closed in on an untitled drama set in Mexico.
Not much is known about the new film yet, save that Cuaron has written the script and will direct the story, which chronicles a year in the life of a middle-class family in Mexico City in the early 1970s. “This film is close to my heart and my first in Mexico since Y Tu Mamá También," Cuaron said in a statement. "I am thrilled to be making it with the Participant team."
The director has teamed up with Participant Media to work on the movie, which he aims to start shooting this autumn in Mexico. We're guessing there will be 100% fewer massive CG shots of the Earth this time, but we're still excited to see what Cuaron does next.
