10 Egregious Oscar Snubs
Original Score
Marvin Hamlisch, The Informant!
This is one we really can't believe got overlooked. In a year when James Horner's recycled mish-mash of themes from Aliens, Star Trek II and Titanic for Avatar and the largely forgettable Sherlock Holmes score (sorry Hans Zimmer, but it's true) got nods, the perfect match of subject and music was found on Steven Soderbergh's comedy drama. Hamlisch's work was hilarious when it needed to be, emotional when it counted, graceful and quirksome throughout. It's a travesty that the melodies some members of Team Empire can't help but listen to time and again got snubbed.
