WHY SHE WILL WIN Already nominated once for Junebug and much praised for her charming turn in Enchanted, Adams is clearly on to something with the innocent, cheery roles she's been playing. Doubt's Sister James belongs to the same family of characters, but she's dealing with more complex issues which may give her an edge.

WHY SHE WON'T WIN Adams' previous roles may just be too similar to this for it to really stand out - and there's no one attention-grabbing moment. In fact, if we're giving out a Best Supporting Actress award to Doubt, it seems far more likely to go to Viola Davis (below) who gets a heck of a Oscar-clip scene.
