Simon Pegg On The World's End Gang
The boys are back in town...

Two months ago, in our Man Of Steel issue, Empire brought you exclusive access to the set of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's The World's End, as well as a plethora of fresh stills. Now, 50-odd days later, one of our exclusive pics has finally managed to wend its merry way online.

Here it is for you below in all its high definition glory, offering a closer look at the boozy pals who come back together for one last - and possibly apocalyptic - piss-up after a difficult period apart.

From left to right, meet Martin Freeman's Oliver, Paddy Considine's Steven, Simon Pegg's Gary, Nick Frost's Andy and Eddie Marsan's Peter. At this point, they're just going for a walk. Later, the world will end.

Pegg talks us through the crew, again from left to right, in this fashion: "Olly, or O-Man as he was known, was part of the gang by chance. He was welcomed in for having a fit sister and chose to stay because it suited him. He is now an estate agent and is unsentimental about the past. Particularly about Gary."

"Steve was Gary's fellow rock star in training. They were similar back in the day: cool, good-looking, into the same girls - particularly Oliver's sister, Sam. Steven is now an architectural consultant and hasn't seen or heard from Gary in a very long time."

"Andy was Gary's best friend - they have known each other the longest. Their relationship formed the backbone of the group. Andy is now a successful lawyer and has not spoken to Gary in years."

"Peter hung around with Gary at school because he struggled to fit in elsewhere. He knew Gary enjoyed coming over and playing with his expensive toys and swimming in his pool, but he was happy to have a purpose in the group. Now co-owns a car showroom with his father." 

There are 12 pubs on the gang's crawl, culminating in The World's End. "When you've seen the film, you'll be able to relate each pub name to what happens inside," explains Pegg. On that basis, things could get seriously hairy at the Two-Headed Dog. And is a Nicolas Cage/Wicker Man tribute too much to ask for in The Beehive?

The World's End is out on August 14. Empire's March edition, meanwhile, is still available on iPad.
