New Place Beyond The Pines Poster
Exclusive: the Cooper/Gosling face-off

15 March 2013  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen  |  Source: StudioCanal

With Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling sharing the screen, The Place Beyond The Pines is basically a Sexiest-Man-Alive off. Any poster promoting the film will therefore automatically have the pair of them shirts off, rescuing kittens, right? Well, no - and it introduces a female touch with Eva Mendes in ripped jean shorts for the lady-fanciers out there.

Gosling plays Luke, a motorbike stuntman who divides his time between derring-dos at the fair, helping knock-off banks as a getaway rider, and trying to be a good dad to his son. Throw in Bradley Cooper's ambitious cop, struggling with corruption in the ranks, and you've got a kind of Heat-meets-Evel Knievel scenario that promises twists and turns at every corner. Click here for stills from the movie. And the original US poster is below.

Justly praised, directo Derek Cianfrance's Blue Valentine was a romantic horror in the mould of Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? and Bergman's Scenes From A Marriage. His latest expands on some those relationship issues in a criminal context. We're saying that all the robbery and violence probably isn't going to help the path of true love for either of its leads.

Catch The Place Beyond The Pines in UK cinemas from April 12.

Goslings character is almost identical to that in drive. Can't hate! Cooper is definitely coming into his prime. Both actors look to put on some powerful performances. Woo, can't wait More

same...
Ben Mendelsohn was brilliant in TDKR. he has such a distinctive way of speaking for some reason I find him to be quite sexy..which is strange..but then again. he is a very, very good actor..so maybe it's just magnetism. cannot wait for this film. just getting chills from the trailer More

Can't wait for this...
Despite the lukewarm reviews this is one of my most anticipated films this year. Ben Mendelsohn is also in this, fast becoming one of my favourite Aussie actors! More
