Exclusive: New Broken Trailer
Tim Roth checks into Brokeside Close

19 November 2012  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen  |  Source: Exclusive

Adapted from a novel by Daniel Clay, Broken promises to mirror the raw suburban melodrama of its source. Debut director Rufus Norris has assembled a strong cast, Tim Roth and Cillian Murphy included, in a story that pulls up in a seemingly serene British cul-de-sac and, as this world exclusive new trailer hints, quickly starts uncovering some dark truths.

The film takes its title from the character of Rick 'Broken' Buckley (Robert Emms), a 19 year-old seen on the receiving end of a brutal beating from neighbour Mr. Oswald (Rory Kinnear) after a false accusation by his daughter.

Rick's struggles and Oswald's thuggery are contrasted with Tim Roth's lawyer next door and his 11 year-old daughter Skunk (Eloise Laurence), although as you can probably tell from the trailer, not all's well in their house either. Stella Street this ain't.

With nine BIFA nominations (more than any other film this year), including Best Director, Best Film and Most Promising Newcomer for Laurence, Broken is one to look out for. It'll be out in UK cinemas in spring 2013.
