Amazing Spider-Sequel Looks For A Harry
Dane DeHaan and more in the mix

15 November 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Marc Webb and his Amazing Spider-Man sequel team are racing towards a proposed February start for the new movie. So naturally they’ve been gathering cast members to support Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker and Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacey. Shailene Woodley seems to be a lock for Mary Jane Watson and so the focus has turned to Harry Osborn, with Chronicle’s Dane DeHaan and more in contention.

The Hollywood Reporter has heard that the Osborn role was originally to be portrayed as more of a jock-type character. But the angle has switched to a darker, edgier type. Which makes sense, given the tragic and dark destiny the character's likely to face. And no, we don't mean a bad time presenting the Oscars.

With that in mind, DeHaan would be a fine choice, but he’s just one of the actors testing. Brady Corbet and Alden Ehrenreich (above) are also being considered, and other names are likely to crop up.

We expect this one to be wrapped up fairly quickly if they need to be ready to shoot next year, but given that every big franchise film goes through these casting convulsions before locking down a cast, don’t expect the news to stop until the cameras are actually cranking. And even then…

In the comics, Harry is a lovable, meek, snivelling bitch.
Dane DeHaan sounds perfect, based on Chronicle and Lawless. But maybe he is getting a little typecast. He has my vote though. Interesting. More
