John Logan Writing Bond 24 & 25
Skyfall co-writer plans two-part story

28 October 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

submit to reddit

Given the enormously positive reaction to Skyfall from both critics and audiences (the film is already breaking box office records here in the UK),it figures that at least one of the people involved, co-writer John Logan, would already be at work figuring out James Bond’s next step. Apparently, he’s ahead of us all and has sold a pitch to Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson for a two-part tale.

With Daniel Craig signed for two more movies, the path is clear for Eon productions to begin shaping the next films around him once more, with the first due in 2014.

Nothing is yet known about the plot of the films, but they’re said to be a linked, original tale. Naturally, we’d expect the usual quota of girls, guns and exotic locations. And… Well, to say any more would be to spoil something of Skyfall, so we’ll speculate no further. If you’ve seen the film, you’ll want to check out the spoiler podcast that will arrive in the coming week.

What this means for long-serving Bond scriptwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade is anyone’s guess, though we have some hope that they’ll at least consult. That said, their producing career is heating up, so perhaps they’re happy to step back from Bond to focus on their own projects.

So if you’ve seen Skyfall (and even if not), what do you want to see in a future 007 outing? Michael Bay finally given a shot at directing? Kidding!

For those yet to experience the film, check out a clip from the film below.

Could be interesting. Fleming himself used a story arc for On Her Majesty's Secret Service and You Only Lived Twice (and The Man With the Golden Gun to an extent), but Broccoli and Saltzman fudged that when they filmed them in the wrong order. More

RE: Bond should take down Quantum for GOOD!
I'm not a great Bond fan, not a hater either as I'm happy to watch each new movie just incase its actually a good movie. I kind of agree with Vader, that they are all pretty much the same, hence I would never watch any of them over again. I would sooner watch the Bourne Trilogy through again, than sit and watch more that one Bond movie. Except for Living Daylights, but only because its both a great movie and the best Bond movie, IMO of course. More

The Bond Director rules are: a) has to be a Commonwealth director, b) has to be name-under-the-title, c) has to understand Britishness, d) has to be a fan, etc. Unofficial rule e) has to be a hack at heart - the producers like to have control over the franchise! Although to B'n'W's credit they've picked arty choices for Craig so far and really let them put their stamp on Bond, which I think is how they're keeping things fresh. Forster was an exception to rule a) and Mendes is an almost-exceptio More

Exciting!
First things first: Yep, this sadly means no Christopher Nolan while Craig is Bond. Anyone else think TDKR was a better Bond film than QoS? But Bond is doing fine without Nolan, as much as Craig and he are a perfect tonal fit. This is exciting news! I was hoping the next two films would deal with Quantum and I can only imagine that'll be one of the major plotlines in Bonds 24 and 25. It'll be a nice ending to Craig's arc (the fact that he *has* an arc is awesome enough) if he chooses not to do More

PURVIS AND WADE - SERIOUSLY???
Why on earth are you hoping those clowns will be involved again? Left to their own devices they wrote some of the worst Bond films ever! Die Another Day and The World Is Not Enough - utter rubbish. They needed Haggis and Fleming to help them with Casino Royale and Logan must be the reason that Skyfall was so good. Get those idiots as far away from Bond as possible. More

Posted by Ramsay7 at 11:49 on 29 October 2012 | Report This Post

Cool. Why not?
I, for one, really liked that QoS started where Casino Royale ended. I like the idea of each Bond having their own arc as well as their own style. I think it's cool. Been watching a LOT of Bond on SKY 007 HD and it's clear to see that, while the Bonds themselves have all been unique and different, some of the stories have suffered from 'Identikit' plotlines. There's been a lot of recycling in the last 50 years so I look forward to anything fresh. More

Bit shakey about Nolan or Boyle helming the next one. Keep any Bourne affiliates away - unfortunately that includes Paul Greengrass, and Tony Gilroy (thank god - Bourne Legacy was awful now I think about it). David Fincher could work but I'm worried he would make this way too dark. RE: John Logan Writing Bond 24 & 25
Skyfall is one of the best Bond films and a definite step in the right direction for the franchise. Traditional Bond with much needed emotional and dramatic weight. It takes the franchise out of the shadow of the Bourne series while still delivering a Bond that you can believe in a post 911 world. Danny Boyle, Joe Wright, Nicholas Winding Refn or David Fincher would all make fine candidates to direct the next two. Like Mendes, they're all artistic directors who would focus on the character More

Nolan at the helm please! He wants to do a Bond movie and anyone who has seen his films, particularly Inception, would know he would do a great job. I like that it's a two parter, maybe introduce his wife in the first and kill her in the second? Having said that we've already had the 'broken man' plot after Vesper's death, might be repetitive but could work if handled rightly, which Nolan would do I think. More

Please, no more Daniel Craig attempts at Roger Moore humour. And stop already with the 'wanting revenge on M' or 'good agents gone bad' plots from the Brosnan era with Goldeneye and The World is Not Enough. There's no point in brilliantly reinventing the franchise with Casino Royale, if ur just going to hark backwards again with nostalgis as Skyfall. Please, please, don't return to the old formula - it's so had it's day. More
