A Liar's Autobiography LFF Gala Report
It's Monty Python's lying circus

17 October 2012  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen

The perception of Graham Chapman is that of a comedy genius touched by melancholy, introspection and the occasional soft cushion. He died in 1989 leaving a pipe-puffing legacy of grand comic moments and extreme silliness, as well as a series of audio diary recordings that form the basis of A Liar's Autobiography, a unique animation that tells this bittersweet life story in the words of the man himself.

The animated kinda-biopic took its turn on the BFI London Film Festival red carpet last night, with an Empire-sponsored gala that was supported by Pythons Terry Jones and Michael Palin, as well as filmmakers Bill 'son of Terry' Jones, Ben Timlett and Jeff Simpson.

The trio enlisted all the surviving Pythons, bar Eric Idle, to provide voice for chapters that are presented using just about every form of animation know to man, apart from that one where you draw pictures on a pad and flick it really fast. Feast your eyes on the trailer below to get a better idea of what we're talking about.

A Liar's Autobiography
- The Untrue Story Of Monty Python's Graham Chapman is released more widely on January 25.
