New Gangster Squad Trailer Online
No names. No badges. No mercy...

11 October 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Apple

Cops ‘n’ mobsters thriller Gangster Squad had been headed for a solid release date and what looked like a warm reception. But then came the tragedy at the cinema in Aurora, Colorado, and Warner Bros. decided to push the cine-car back in the garage for some re-tooling. Director Ruben Fleischer and a cast that includes Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin have been hard at work and now here's the new trailer for the movie, which you can see above, or in ultra-HD over at Apple.

While the debate rages on changing the movie’s climactic cinema shoot-out, the freshly crafted trailer certainly sells the swagger, the style and the sex appeal. The match-up between East Coast gangsters spreading their criminal empire to LA and a hard-nosed police team ditching the rules to take them on certainly feels like a compelling story, made even more so by the fact that it has its origins in history.

It’s 1949 and mob kingpin Mickey Cohen (Penn) is on his way to owning the City of Angels. With police corruption rampant, Sergeant John O’Mara is tasked with finding some way to clear up the streets. His scheme is to recruit a small squad of honest officers – including Jerry Wooters (Gosling), Navidad Ramirez (Michael Peña), Coleman Harris (Anthony Mackie), Conway Keeler (Giovanni Ribisi) and Max Kennard (Robert Patrick) to do just that – by launching all-out war on Cohen’s crooks.

Gangster Squad is set to arrive here on January 11.

I wasn't sure about this
But I''m definitely sold on the trailer. Looks a lot more violent than LA Confidential which can only be a good thing (even though LA Confidential is a bonafide classic). Cast is fantastic too. More
