No matter your opinion on Tom Cruise’s suitability for the role, he is the cinematic incarnation of Lee Child’s hardcase investigator, Jack Reacher. A new picture of Cruise – with co-star Rosamund Pike – has arrived via the movie’s Twitter account, and you can glimpse it above. Reacher, adapted from Child’s book One Shot by writer-director Christopher McQuarrie, finds our hero called in to investigate the case of a military sniper accused of shooting five victims. But the suspect, James Barr (Joseph Sikora) claims he’s innocent. And when Reacher agrees to dig in to the case, he finds many more layers to it… Talking of mysteries, just who is that guy playing the cop between Cruise and Pike? Why, that would be Mr Lee Child himself. He’s probably thinking, ‘Oi, Cruise... I might have approved your casting, but get out of my shot, will ya?” With a cast that also includes the likes of Richard Jenkins, Robert Duvall, David Oyelowo and Werner Herzog (yup, the actual Herzog), Jack Reacher will assault our screens on December 26.
