Poster For Spielberg's Lincoln Arrives
Daniel Day-Lewis is Honest Abe

Two weeks ago the world saw the first official still from Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, and today the first official poster has arrived, showing Daniel Day-Lewis in a rather monochrome mood.

Still no sign of his signature stovepipe hat just yet, but the use of black and white really brings out how Day-Lewis is inhabiting the role, from the whiskers on his cheeks to the worried look in his eye.

Also, no tagline on this particular poster, meaning that we'll have to wait a little longer to see if "Emancipate this" will ever see the light of day.

Just in case you didn't know already, the film itself is an adaptation of historian Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book, Team of Rivals, concentrating on the final four months of the 16th US president's life, where he was at the end of the Civil War and on the point of outlawing slavery for good.

The United Kingdom will only be able to see Lincoln on January 25, 2013, whereas the United States will see it in all its glory come November 16.

FLASHMAN
Make no mistake, Stevie Boy takes as many risks with popular film as he can & having read the book, I suspect this will be another fearless leap; this is NOT a US Civil War epic about a guy permanently walking around in a top hat, framed by arc light & spouting profundities, it's a character study that shows the genius of the real man, a bloke who could bring together all his rivals for POTUS, and mould them into a cohesive cabinet to rule; great ensemble acting is frequently as thrillin More

Perfect
Great casting. Any film with Day-Lewis is a must-see for me. He looks the part for sure. I wonder if he never strayed out of character and walked around with the stove hat on for breakfast in his pyjamas... More

Excellent!
Day Lewis is the spitting image of Lincoln and the perfect actor to play him. With Spielberg behind the camera and a certain powerhouse performance this is set to be a sure fire winner! More
