New Dredd Poster Online
Prepare for Urban warfare

03 August 2012  |  Written by Helen O'Hara

submit to reddit

If ever a jawline said "Do. Not. Mess." it is surely this one. In this latest poster for Dredd, Karl Urban is clenching his teeth so hard we can only assume he's chewing rocks. It's just the thing to give you a last injection of determination to make it to the weekend.

The film, of course, sees Urban play 2000AD's hardest lawman, the man who neatly marries the roles of judge, jury and executioner in one unstoppable package. Here, he takes new recruit Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) into a vast tower block in pursuit of a drug dealer called Ma Ma (Lena Headey) who has a few tricks up her sleeve.

Directed by Pete Travis and written by Alex Garland, the film hits cinemas on September 7 in the UK - and you can read much more about it in the latest issue of Empire, also on iPad in the UK and in the US App store. Just one thing: doesn't Dredd's choice of location remind you of another crime-fighter, just a touch?

Went to a press screening of this a few weeks ago. it was pretty good and a definite 18 movie which is refreshing. If you like seeing what someone looks like when a bullet hits them in bullet time slo mo with all the appropriate teeth and brains on show then this is for you! More

RE: JUDGMENT?
Fantastic poster! It's got a real 80's Sci-Fi/Exploitation vibe going! Yet to read a bad review of the movie and being a huge Dredd fan, I can't wait! More

RE: JUDGMENT?
Actually mate, I wiki'd it and they're right: In a non-legal context, spelling differs between countries. The spelling judgement (with e added) is common in the United Kingdom in a non-legal context. In British English, the spelling judgment is correct when referring to a court's or judge's formal ruling, whereas the spelling judgement is used for other meanings. Still British and I'm still proud, now to see how the film pans out. More

JUDGMENT?
"JUDGMENT"? Really? what is the point of spelling it like that? has somebody actually been paid to miss out a letter, for no apparent reason?its ridiculous. im REALLY hoping the movie is better than this nonsense,,and the pretty grim trailer suggests! More

NO HELEN NOT DARE DEVIL - AMERICA!
The inspiration for this poster comes from the first panel of the acclaimed 1990 Judge Dredd Story 'America' not Dare devil. ic.pics.livejournal.com/nomadicwriter/859310/126751/ori ginal.jpg And No Dredd has no relation to the Raid or the Dark Knight. Its about time we all started to get on board with this film and the originality of Judge Dredd, which has itself been criminally ripped off over the years. More

Note to self
Trying to be witty in the comments section fails horribly when you clearly haven't read the whole article before commenting, thus not noticing that the writer already made the same observation. More

Cool...
But it kinda looks like a Nolan-Batman poster. Not that that's a bad thing, and considering all the blah blah comparisons this film has been getting I feel bad for even mentioning it. I'm still gonna post this though. Like so. More
