First Look At Arnie's The Last Stand
Schwarzenegger is back!

02 August 2012  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: USA Today

Ladies and gentlemen, brace yourselves. This might look like it's just a picture of a former governor of California but it is in fact your first look at the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger to leading film roles - specifically, his turn in The Last Stand as Sheriff Ray Owens.

The film sees Schwarzenegger play a former LAPD officer who has retired to a quieter life in a small town called Summerton Junction, near the Mexican border. His big problems start when a drug kingpin (Eduardo Noriega) escapes police custody and makes a run for the border - with only Owens standing in his way. Desperate, he deputizes the locals to fill out his force as the druglord and his lieutenants loom ever closer.

Schwarzenegger told USA Today that his character, "hasn't had to flex his muscles in a while. So when the gangsters come to town, it's a big test."

"You're rooting for him more because he's more like us," added producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura says. "And he gets up and keeps on going. When he needs to be Arnold, he's Arnold."

For more from both filmmakers on the film, head on over to USA Today.

The Last Stand is due in cinemas in the US on January 18, 2013, and January 25 here in the UK.

RE: First Look At Arnie's The Last Stand
This /\ It sounds very Walter Hill-ish. But unless 'Arnie' dies in the first 5 minutes I don't see how I'd even find it watchable. And Johnny bloody Knoxville. *yikes* More

L: My name is Legion No mention of this being Jee-woon Kim's first English language film? THAT is the most exciting thing about this film. t would be exciting if this wasn't a Walking Tall-ish looking generic action film. More

Reacher
I was thinking about this earlier (cos I'm reading Echo Burning at the minute) - if Arnie didn't sound like Arnie, and he was about 10 years younger, he'd be an awesome Jack Reacher. More
