The Hobbit feature opener in this month's issue

If you have had a difficult week so far, it's about to get a whole lot better. Empire's new issue hits newsstands today, and we're leading with a fresh look at The Hobbit, Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis talking us through their shared pivotal scene. Here is our exclusive cover, a new still from the film and a behind-the-scenes look at Serkis and Freeman together.

Elsewhere in an issue that's more crammed than the Jubilee line after an Olympics event, we bring you a complete report on Dredd, contrast Frankenweenie and ParaNorman, get banged up with The Sweeney, talk Taken 2 with Liam Neeson, and sit down with Keira Knightley and Oliver Stone to talk about their latest films.

We also have a first look at Les Miserables, Rush and Riddick, and challenge Jackie Chan to tell us the price of a pint of milk.

The new issue is on newsstands today, or in the Apple store for those of you after the iPad edition - both original UK flavour and new US edition - come around 5pm today.
