Pacific Rim Poster Lands
Robots march to Comic-Con

With Comic-Con arriving this week, all the participating studios are doing their best to make us aware of what they’ll be pimping in San Diego this year. Hot on the tail of the Hobbit poster comes this new promo piece for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim.

The focus until now has been on the human characters, including Idris Elba’s commander and Charlie Hunnam / Rinko Kikuchi’s warriors, who are called upon to control giant robots (or Jaegers, in the film's parlance) that do battle with the massive creatures (or "kaiju") causing havoc across the world.

There’s been nary a glimpse of the beasties, but given that this is del Toro you know they’re going to be impressive. Naturally, we’d expect at least a quick look at them once GDT and some of his cast kick off their panel at the Con, which will happen at 2:30pm next Saturday in Hall H. Let’s face it, it’s the only space that could contain the promise of the movie and Guillermo’s enthusiasm…

As for the movie, it will invade our screens on July 12, 2013.
