First Epic Trailer Arrives
Josh Hutcherson goes green

26 June 2012  |  Written by James White

Usually when animation companies announce casting, we’re some distance from seeing any finished footage. Not so with Blue Sky and 20th Century Fox Animation’s Epic, which trumpeted its leading tonsil talents last month and has just debuted the first teaser trailer. Take a look...

The footage is almost dialogue-free, but does offer a look at the lush visuals planned, including sweeping forest scenes and all manner of insect-like critters. Including talking slugs, one of which sounds distinctly like Aziz Ansari. That’s not a shocker, since he was part of the line-up talked up alongside fellow leads Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell, Beyoncé Knowles, Amanda Seyfried, Pitbull, Steven Tyler, Jason Sudeikis, Judah Friedlander and more.

This is the latest ‘toon outing from Ice Age creator Chris Wedge, who has been toiling away adapting William Joyce’s book The Leaf Men And The Brave Good Bugs since 2006, after working with the author on Robots. As for the story, it finds a teenaged girl (apparently Seyfried, though there’s no official confirmation on that) coming across a secret world riven by war in a forest. Shrunk to tiny proportions, she joins forces with a rag-tag group of characters to save the magical realm from an evil force.

The new adventure is set to hit our screens on May 24 next year.
