The Amazing Spider-Man Premieres
Garfield, Stone, Ifans swing into London

19 June 2012  |  Written by Helen O'Hara

London's Leicester Square is often to be found covered in sticky goo, but that's usually on a Sunday morning following a heavy Saturday night. Things were rather more fragrant and generally pleasant last night when it played host to the UK premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man, with the stars in attendance.

The superhero reboot sees Andrew Garfield don the spandex as Peter Parker, the teenager bit by an arachnid and imbued with special abilities. Emma Stone's the classmate / science intern / police chief's daughter who catches his eye, and Rhys Ifans plays Dr Curt Connors, a scientist who used to work with Parker's long-deceased father.

It's all directed by (500) Days Of Summer's Marc Webb, and hits screens on July 3. Yes, that's a Tuesday, but are you seriously going to argue traditional release days with a man who can stick to ceilings?

It's actually prett-ay damn good
Saw this last night on IMAX and to be honest, I was a bit sceptical before - it's not perfect but it is very very good review here for those interested - http://darrens-world-of-entertainment.blogspot.co.nz/20 12/06/amazing-spiderman-movie-review.html More

Bitten by a spider all over again?
Come on...we've seen all the back story...why not of gone for a bond style approach...pre-title action scene taking out electro...bang into opening credits with a funky spindly stu philips style score...then bang into an action opus with 20 percent romance...40 percent comedy and the rest pure spider suspense!!!! Cameo by Ditko this time round in a 'nah' moment! More

RE: what if it flops?
L: Hughezyvstheworld what's gonna happen if this film bombs or under-performs? are they gonna reboot it again? robably...I've always wanted to see a reboot of a reboot...althought strictly speaking their was a Spiderman movie before Raimi's so this is already a reboot of a reboot of a reboot. If it flops and they do reboot it, then it will be a reboot of a reboot of a reboot of a reboot...my ears are bleeding... More
