Ray Winstone In Talks For Noah
Update: Jennifer Connelly locked in

12 June 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Deadline

Ray Winstone In Talks For Noah

“Oi, Noah! Afraid of a little water, are ya? You muppet!” are probably not words you associate with the Biblical tale. And, let’s face it, you’re unlikely to hear them in Darren Aronofsky’s epic take on the story, even though he has now offered Ray Winstone the role of Noah’s nemesis.

The cast for the director’s latest has been coming together quickly following Russell Crowe formally signing on to the title role. Logan Lerman and Douglas Booth will be his sons and Emma Watson is on to play a young woman who romances Booth. Still in play is the part of Noah’s wife, with Julianne Moore and Jennifer Connelly both reportedly in contention.

But it would seem that Noah faces more of a challenge in this film than just the sort of downpour that would put the UK’s recent weather to shame. Aronofsky has been running down a list of likely villains, with Val Kilmer, Liev Schreiber and Liam Neeson all considered. But it would seem that Winstone has won out as someone who can truly challenge Crowe physically.

Noah will start shooting in August and has set a release date of March 28, 2014.

Who do we think Ray Winstone will be playing in Noah?
A huge deluge of water
The Almighty
The demon drink
A recalcitrant triceratops who refuses to board the Ark
A Space Jockey / Engineer

Maybe he'll be a splinter in Noah's little finger. As long as it keeps his giant head out of my living room trying to encourage me to wager on Rooney's sock height in the second half I'm okay with it. More

No doubt he'll be a bad guy. Why? He's one of us brits in'e? How many 'good guy' english can you name in US films? Ok, now subtract that tiny number down to the amount of good guy cockneys there are in US film. Yes, there's not a lot is there. Pretty well just the Stath. More
