Flight Trailer Lands Online
Denzel Washington has an air scare

07 June 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Apple

Flight Trailer Lands Online

Robert Zemeckis has spent years spearheading performance-captured 3D animated movies, so it’s nice to see him back at the helm of a live-action film. From the looks of the first trailer for Flight, we might all be glad he returned from 'toon town. Check out the trailer at Apple.

Flight finds Denzel Washington as airline pilot Whip Whitaker, a seasoned hand at the controls who nevertheless battles a few personal demons. On a seemingly routine flight, his plane starts to fall apart and is soon plummeting to the ground. Only Whip’s quick thinking averts a bigger tragedy, and he’s able to crash land the craft and save almost everyone involved.

But when he wakes up in hospital, things start to get a little cloudier. Initially hailed as a hero, Whip is soon taking meetings with lawyers (including Don Cheadle) as the investigation into the crash reveals that he had alcohol in his system, which could lead to jail time. So the question becomes, what really happened on that fateful flight?

With a script by Real Steel's John Gatins and John Goodman, Melissa Leo and Bruce Greenwood also in the cast, Flight looks like it could see Zemeckis picking himself up after the disappointment of Mars Needs Moms. It’ll land in UK cinemas on January 25, 2013.

Good
This looks surprisingly good actually. Interesting premise and a good twist to the standard story. More

Live action... Thank God!
I accept the premise that 'directing is directing, whatever the medium' but Zemekis is one who simply hasn't been able to embrace the technology smoothly - he plays too hard for the 'floaty stick towards camera' moves, he is constantly convinced by less exacting minds that the 'uncanny valley' humans that are produced are up to the task of facilitating the story (note: they're not, not by a huge fucking margin) and his economy of storytelling gets utterly bogged down by the process. Take the fla More
