Colin Farrell Finds An Epic
He'll voice Fox's new 'toon

31 May 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: 20th Century Fox

Colin Farrell Finds An Epic

While 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios could probably fund themselves just by pumping out endless Ice Age sequels, that’s not the plan for the two companies. Nope, they’re still working on plenty of original ideas and have now announced that (deep breath) Colin Farrell, Beyoncé Knowles, Josh Hutcherson, Amanda Seyfried, Johnny Knoxville, Aziz Ansari, Pitbull, Jason Sudeikis, Judah Friedlander and Steven Tyler are all among the cast for Epic.

This one has been bubbling away on the ‘toon stoves for a while now, with Ice Age originator Chris Wedge starting work adapting William Joyce’s story, The Leaf Men And The Brave Good Bugs, back in 2006. It’ll be his second collaboration with the author, with Wedge having turned Robots into a film in 2005.

The plot follows a teenaged girl plunged into a battle raging across a secret world deep in a forest. She’ll have to join forces with a rag-tag band of characters, including insects and mythical beasts, to help save the magical realm, which in turn will keep our own world safe.

Epic is set to arrive in the US (and conceivably worldwide, though there is no solid info yet) on May 24, 2013. The details were revealed by Fox, which is on a release date announcement-athon, but more on that in another story…
