Lawless Character Posters Arrive
Oldman, Hardy, Pearce, Chastain...

First it was The Wettest County in The World, then it was The Promised Land, then it was Wettest County and now it's Lawless. But a film by any name would still smell as sweet with a cast like this one.

Based on Matt Bondurant's novel The Wettest County in the World - hence the original title - and directed by The Road's John Hillcoat, it tells the tale of Depression era Virginia, when many families were forced to live outside the law selling moonshine to make ends meet.

One such family was Bondurant's own, with his grandfather and two granduncles making illegal hooch. Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy and Jason Clarke play these three brothers, supported by such high quality acting talent as Jessica Chastain (seen here with gun) and Mia Wasikowska (seen here with cardigan), as well as Guy Pearce (gun) and Gary Oldman (bigger gun).

Intrigued? For more details on the film itself, check out our Damon Wise's Cannes diary for a sneak peek.

Lawless will be out in the US on August 29, with a a UK release date two days later on August 31.
