New G.I. Joe Trailer Explodes The Web
The Rock joins the nation of retaliation

24 April 2012  |  Written by Phil de Semlyen

If the first instalment was more a case of G.I. "No", G.I. Joe: Retaliation is shaping up to be more of the balls-out actioner we were expecting from the get-go. This time out it's more explosions, more hardware and more of His Rockness doing what he does. "Boom!", as the man says.

The movie's first trailer feasted on the movie's big action sequences. This time out, things get a little more plotty, which means a little more spoilerific. If the fate of the Joes is close to your heart, keep your eyes closed during the opening salvo in which the team's base is hit with an airstrike ordered by the President (Jonathan Pryce) himself.

Of course, it's not the actual president - that'd be silly - but a Cobra doppelganger who's shapeshifted his way into the White House. With all that destructive power at the baddies' disposal, Retaliation looks like spelling curtains for a major world city or two. Yes, that's London getting Emmerich'ed.

The payback is bound to be brutal, especially with Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis joining forces. The trailer's set to 'Seven Nation Army'. We're thinking 'Seven Person Army' might be more apt.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation is out on August 3.

WTF
This looks even shitter than the first one, even with the Rock, Bruce Willis, Jonathan Pryce and Ray Stevenson it looks like a turd. More
