The Host Poster Hits The Web
First look at Andrew Niccol's latest

12 April 2012  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: Mammoth Press

If, like Danny Boyle, you have a thing for alien love triangles* then you might just love The Host, the new film by Andrew Niccol and starring Saoirse Ronan as a young member of the human resistance to a race of bodysnatching aliens. She falls prey to bodysnatching aliens - but retains her own personality and memories alongside those of her alien invader, Wanderer. And here's the first poster for the film.

It's more than a bit similar to the cover of the Stephenie Meyer book on which it's based, but that's perhaps inevitable for the teaser poster of a film based on a popular book. The story sees Melanie / Wanderer return to the former's resistance hide-out and try to find a way to live together in the face of hostility from Melanie's family and, notably, love interest.

The film also stars Max Irons as Melanie's boyfriend Jared, William Hurt as her uncle Jeb, Jake Abel as fellow resistance member Ian and Diane Kruger as the being determined to root out the last human resistance.

The Host will be out on March 23 next year. Aren't you impressed that we got the whole way through this story without mentioning Twilight? Oh damn.

*Bit obscure? Given that it didn't really get released here?
