Frankenweenie Teaser Poster Online
Here lies Sparky... For now.

21 February 2012  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Facebook

Despite also being busy with Dark Shadows and other movies, Tim Burton has filled his idle moments readying the full-length stop-motion feature adaptation of his 1984 short Frankenweenie for a release this year. Now the poster is online.

The image has arrived courtesy of the film’s Facebook page, which is jumping up and down like an excitable reanimated puppy, hoping that you’ll “like” it.

Frankenweenie adapts and expands the story of young Victor, who tragically loses his beloved dog Sparky. Refusing to be without his closest companion, Victor decides to bring him back to life... Albeit with a few tweaks. The stitched-together pooch is fine for a while, but when he escapes, he causes chaos for the local townsfolk.

Burton has recruited a voice cast that includes some newcomers along with a batch of his regular acting ensemble: Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Atticus Shaffer, Charlie Tahan and Robert Capron.

We caught a glimpse of footage from the film last year at Disney’s D23 event, and the Corpse Bride-style animation is a solid fit for the story of a boy and his reanimated dog…

Frankenweenie comes alive on October 5.

I'm not sure whether to be excited or not. Burton has become tiresome and his originality doesn't seem to be there any more. Guess I'll have to wait and see More
