Jack The Giant Killer Trailer Is Here
Something giant is coming...

16 December 2011  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Exclusive

The parade of re-invented fairytales making their way to the screen shows no sign of stopping and now Bryan Singer’s take on Jack And The Beanstalk, Jack The Giant Killer is stomping its way towards our cinemas. And thanks to the gang at Warners, you can take an exclusive first look at the trailer below.

In this version of the story, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) is still a humble farm lad, and comes into possession of those ever-potent magic beans. Despite a Gremlins-style admonition to never let them get wet, that’s exactly what happens and soon a massive beanstalk has sprouted up, taking Jack’s home and Princess Isabelle (Eleanor Tomlinson) with it. So Jack is forced to go on a mission to rescue her. Which would be difficult enough, but there are some giant problems lurking around.

You see, the kingdom Jack lives in has been in an uneasy peace with their giant neighbours, but this latest incident sparks off a conflict...

From the looks of this first trailer, Jack will come loaded with spectacle and drama, plus a fair smattering of comedy. Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Warwick Davis, Ian McShane, Bill Nighy, Ewan Bremner and Eddie Marsan are also in the cast and the film itself is out on June 15.

Is it just me but i was expecting a remake of Jack the Giant Killer not Jack and the Beanstalk. I remember watching the original when i was a kid and it was very Sinbad/Harryhausen-like (In a good way). The story however was very good and just like Clash of the Titans, it was crying out for a remake. More

Trailer Not Impressive
Chalk me up as another person not quite wowed by this trailer. It truly is generic and suffers from the "insert film title / theme into dorky tagline" sin. Also abuses slo-mo for no discernible reason. Why do we need to see the princess remove a cape in slo-mo? Was that meant to be sexy? Are we supposed to be impressed by her neon green gown? What gives? Might watch this on DVD for Nighy. More

I'll stick up for him if no one else will. Have you not seen A Single Man? He was great in that. More

Nicholas Hoult
I think even the beanstalk will be less wooden than Nicholas Hoult in this...... More

Love Hoult, first chance to really shine on the silver screen since About A Boy (everything else is supporting roles). Love Singer too- even Superman Returns, a beautiful and thoughtful film if a little light on the action. Someone give Routh another big lead by the way- he's great. Anyway, this looks fun. Hard to believe though that this is from the man behind The Usual Suspects... Generic trailer or just generic cinema? More

Oh God not Nicholas "I can't act for beans" Hoult (no pun intended). Shall be steering clear of this! More
