Superman Has A New Mum

She's appeared in Munich alongside Eric Bana and Angels & Demons alongside Tom Hanks' hair, but now Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer faces her greatest challenge yet: standing next to Russell Crowe and sending her only son off to live on a barbarous world surrounded by, er, us in Superman: Man Of Steel

Yes, she's replacing Julia Ormond as Lara Lor-Van, aka Superman's mum, who faces the imminent destruction of her entire planet by standing by her man and sending her son off to Earth. She was played in the 1978 film by Susannah York, who reprised her role in Superman II and Superman IV: The Quest For Peace.

Man Of Steel of course stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman himself, with Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as his adoptive Earth folk, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Michael Shannon as General Zod. Zack Snyder's directing, Christopher Nolan's producing and it's all due to hit screens in June 2013.

RE: Must say...
So she was 14 when she popped out Kal-el.   They're aliens, it's probably alright. More

Must say...
for her age (42 ahem) she looks damn good. It'll be interesting to see how she plays the role. But IMO, no one can beat Susannah York. More
