Balin and Dwalin March Online
Guess what? More dwarves!

17 July 2011  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Time

And the dwarf images just keep on coming! We’ve nearly got the complete set, but here for your Hobbit-anticipating pleasure is the first look at Balin and Dwalin, courtesy, of all places, of Time magazine.

To see the pic full size at Time, click on the image above.

Played by Ken Stott and Graham McTavish, Balin and Dwalin are close kin to badass Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage, who is finally revealed here). And they’re also two of his most loyal and trusted mates.

Balin is a crusty old warrior who has lived through more battles and tough times than most of the younger adventurers have had hot dinners. But he’s also not sure that the company’s quest to the Lonely Mountain is a wise one.

Dwalin, however, has no such qualms, putting his faith in Thorin 100%. He does, though, have his misgivings about the other members of the team since he’s not exactly fond of anyone other than his fellow dwarves.

Stott you’ll likely recognise from his myriad of UK TV work, particularly the Rebus series and Messiah. On the big screen, he’ll next be seen in One Day. McTavish also has a load of telly under his belt, including appearances on 24 and, er, The Bill and will next grace our cinemas in Colombiana.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is out on December 14 next year, with The Hobbit: There and Back Again following the year after.
