Ed Harris Could Fight World War Z
Matthew Fox also in talks

15 June 2011  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Deadline

Ed Harris Could Fight World War Z

With the cameras set to start cranking and the undead scoundrels ready to start stumbling and groaning for director Marc Foster this month, the cast for World War Z is beginning to swell. The latest names looking to sign on? Ed Harris, Matthew Fox and French actress Julia Levy-Boeken.

Brad Pitt is at the head of the ensemble, playing a UN worker investigating the worldwide zombie crisis/conflict that happened ten years before the event of Max Brooks’ bestselling novel.

Mirelle Enos and James Badge Dale are also already aboard for the film, which Paramount is hoping to have in cinemas next year, particularly if it turns out that the Star Trek sequel can’t be ready in time.

There’s no word on what Fox and Harris might be playing, though there’s a meaty role for a military man in the book that we could see Harris taking on.

Harris most recently cropped up in The Way Back, while former Lost star Fox has been seen on the London stage and is also scheduled to play a serial killer opposite Tyler Perry in the Alex Cross reboot I, Alex Cross. Levy-Boeken, meanwhile, has had a series of guest shots on shows such as Entourage and Alias.

filming in Malta underway
Just thought you guys might like to know that filming is currently underway in (very) sunny Malta. The scene today is that of a crowd running away from...something (currently a green screen). As i write this the crew is currently on break in Valletta. Seems like Malta really is becoming the 'Hollywood of the Mediterranean' - Gladiator, Troy, Munich, Agora, Midnight Express, Game of thrones.... More

RE:
Glasgow is doubling for Philadelphia. I'm wondering if this will have anything to do with the military vs zombie full on war chapter of the book. Also Fox is playing a paratrooper which makes me wonder if they've changed the sex of the character from the book. More

It was in a Scottish paper last week that a large part of this will be filmed in Glasgow!! Apparently doubling for an American city. Although I've read the book I cant remember the city in question... More
