Ralph Fiennes Could Join Bond 23
Sam Mendes is sounding him out...

If all the rumoured casting choices Sam Mendes has been making for Bond 23 pan out, this could turn into one of the best casts ever to grace the screen for the series. The latest word on a possible actor comes from The Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, who writes that Ralph Fiennes might just be contemplating a role.

While details about the possible part are being held in EON Productions’ secret dossier for now, Bamigboye reports (via The Playlist) that Mendes has reached out to another of his old theatre muckers (he directed Fiennes in RSC productions years ago) and that according to one source on the film, ‘The part is one of extreme complexity and only an actor of great ability and dexterity can take it on — and Ralph’s name is top of our list.’

Right now, Fiennes is simply talking about the job: there have been no formal negotiations. The rumour comes on the heels of Javier Bardem being tempted by a role. Should they jump aboard, they’ll join Daniel Craig and Judi Dench, who are already confirmed to return.

And according to Bamigboye’s source, “It’s the first of a new generation of Bond films, and the ideas Mendes has push the film into darker territory where the characters are modern, mature and challenging.” We’re already hoping this one comes together with everyone in place. But if they don't get Fiennes, there is someone else who could stand in...

Hmmm
Excellent cast, but I don't want Bond to get any darker! I would like a return of some humour and to lighten the whole thing up a bit. More

He'd make a great villian! And it's time Bond had a proper villian again. The last few have been well acted but badly designed and written for. How many iconic Bond villians have there been in the last decade? Ralph would fix that no matter how hard the writer's try to b***** the part up! More

Fiennes as Blofeld and Barden as Jaws!
Ok probably not but there is a big part of me that would love to see this. More

Yes!
Thats the cast you need for a Bond film. Bardem and Fiennes are perfect choices. I hope that this rumour comes true. More

I am excited about Bond 23 already and to hear the news this week of both Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes being attached only adds to that excitement. Long live James Bond! More

Blofeld?
I don't know whether the rights issues still exist, but I'm really hoping that Blofeld will make an appearance soon. Casino Royale was very much a reboot for the series, so I'm hoping Bond's ultimate nemesis will come into things. More

RE:
Well, maybe it's the head of QUANTUM, I mean he's all done being the big bad in Harry Potter, he's used to being bald (ala Blofeld) maybe instead of a white cat he'll keep the snake?! More

Hell no! So far the casting has been spot on but adding Fiennes is a big mistake................. More

Actually starting to get excited about this film - with Sam Mendes down to direct, it makes it sound as though this film will be taking a more "mature" route - though Casino Royale will still take some beating. Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem being cast just adds to the possibility that this could well be a great film More
