Jeff Daniels Enters Looper
Alongside Piper Perabo and Noah Segan

Brick/Brothers Bloom creator Rian Johnson’s latest pic, sci-fi thriller Looper, is now shooting and has added a few more names to its cast. The latest to join up? Jeff Daniels, Piper Perabo and Noah Segan.

The twisty plot follows a group of near-future killers whose bosses send their targets back from even further in time for them to off. It’s a nifty trick, since the victims vanish from the future, reappear where no one knows them and there’s nothing to alert police to their identity and they can be made to disappear. But one of the assassins, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, suddenly hits a big problem….

Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano and Xu Qing are already all acting their socks off, with that last name significant for the fact that a lot of the funding comes from a Chinese company and China plays a big part in the setting.

Daniels appears to be continuing his recent indie run, coming off of Howl and Paper Man. Perabo is squeezing the role into her break from US spy series Covert Affairs and Segan is a Johnson regular, having appeared in both Brick and The Brothers Bloom. Good luck charm, anyone? We doubt Johnson needs it, though – we can’t wait to see what he’s cooked up this time.

Looper should be with us next year.
