The Croods Gets A Cage
CG Caveman comedy scores Nic

25 February 2010  |  Written by James White  |  Source: Variety

Nic Cage and Ryan Reynolds have signed on to provide the main voices for DreamWorks new CG caveman comedy The Croods.

Cage will play Crug, a staunch traditionalist forced to lead his family beyond their comfortable usual haunts when an earthquake shakes things up.

Journeying into the dangerous outside world, they meet up with a nomad (Reynolds) who has modern – well, for prehistoric times – ideas and ends up charming the clan, particularly Crug’s daughter. Trouble, naturally, follows. It's Deadpool vs Big Daddy! Green Lantern vs Ghost Rider! Lawks!

This is one that has been bubbling away in development for years: John Cleese helped get the first draft written back when the movie was part of DreamWorks' deal with Aardman, but the final writing and directing duties have fallen to Space Chimps director Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders, one of the helmers behind the upcoming How To Train Your Dragon and Lilo & Stitch. DreamWorks is aiming for this one to arrive in 3D by March 2012.
