Pearce Says Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark
Guy joins Holmes in del Toro remake

30 June 2009  |  Written by Helen O'Hara  |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Guy Pearce is in final talks to join the Guillermo del Toro-produced remake of Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark, the remake of the 1973 TV film of the same name. Pearce joins Katie Holmes, who's already set to star, and child actress Bailee Madison, who's landed the key role of his daughter - who can see dead people, or at least monstrous poltergeists.

The film sees Pearce as a author who is frustrated by his daughter's tales of monsters in their new house, even when his girlfriend (Holmes) backs up the child's stories. We guess that someone's going to learn the error of their ways in a BIG way by the final act.

It's being directed by Troy Nixey, a protege of Guillermo del Toro, who we're guessing was won over by Nixey's fantasy short Latchkey's Lament. Madison played Josh Hutcherson's younger sister in Bridge to Terabithia, and isn't quite ten yet. Some people are apparently born overachieving.

Your Comments

Pearce is great no matter what he does but I don't understand why people keep hiring Holmes- does Cruise still have that much clout? More

RE:
Easily my most anticipated horror in the works. Pearce would be an excellent addition, to side with the lovely Holmes. :) More

Where has Guy Pearce been? Haven't seen him for ages... Sounds like a great project for a re-appearance, though More
