Just got back from seeing Watchmen. There was a slighty different version of this shown before it. There's a brief exchange between Kirk and Uhura which replaces the shot of Spock and Uhura's embrace and a couple either side of it (If I remember right) and the font used at the end is different) anyone else see anuthing different or am I the only one sad enough? Kid: Sure
Paramount PR: Did you not see the slow-motion, silent fading shots of people happy and/or in distress?

I saw this today and I gotta say, up until this point I have actively avoided anything star trek related. I have vague memories of seeing a star trek film with Malcolm McDowell that was relatively passable as entertainment but other than that the general tripe that I see on TV makes me feel physically ill to think about... Not to mention the whole buzz about this movie up to this point seemed a little laughable to me, I guess the same way I would have laughed the first time they said they were More

| RE: Star Trek Trailer |
Doesnt all of the "James T. Kirk was a great man, but that was another LIFE" relate to the prequel comments and the fact that Nero has come back in time to stop certain events in the Federation timeline happening??
I was under the impression that this also links to the inclusion of certain Next Gen people (Captain Data maybe?) and an "event" that has happened in the Romulan Star Empire forcing Nero to come back and be the hero/anti-hero shaping how the Federation interacts etc etc.

Quality trailer. I thought Nero looked shit when i first saw him but the lines he delivers here are awesome, particularly the venom in his voice as he screams "fire everything". Also, i'm glad they've branched out and finally included alien looking creatures rather than relying soley on humans painted every colour of the rainbow. More

Actually, he said "James T. Kirk was a great man, but that was another LIFE" so I think he's just refering to his daddykins.
But if I'm wrong that'd be a great way to shut up all the hardcore trekkies who see Shatner as the one and only kirk; 'it's ok guys, its in a parallel world! You know, like in Enterprise when Archer was a baddie, and the vulcan girl had long hair and an incredibly sexy uniform?' simples!

Looking really good. Didn't really think there was a standout moment in there though (other than Kirk taking the Captain's chair) which may actually be a good thing. A very interesting bit towards the end someone (I think Bana's character) says "James T. Kirk was a great man, but that was a different world". So is this how Abrams is rebooting the series by setting it in an alternative timeline? And how come a character would know of the other timeline?

Like most of JJ Abrhams he knows how to start it well but can he truly deliver the finishing punch. Lost, MI:3, his story on Cloverfield and the X-Files wannane Fringe are all okay but he seems to leave how they end to someone/s else.
