Beverly Hills Cop IV Will Be Rated R
According to Brett Ratner

02 July 2008  |  Written by Chris Hewitt  |  Source: Latino Review

There’s been some concern expressed recently on that there internet that Beverly Hills Cop IV - which will see Eddie Murphy return as Axel Foley in the most famous role of his career – might be tailored for a PG-13 audience.

After all, goes the argument, if Murphy isn’t cussing and swearing like a trooper, saying words like ‘eff’ and ‘cee’ (and maybe even ‘bee’ and ‘effing bee’), the movie might lack the effing ceeing edge of the previous beeing movies. Right? Effing A!

But those fears may prove to be unfounded, after Latino Review caught up briefly with Ratner at the Four Seasons in LA at the weekend and got the following quote from the director, who’s penning the script for Foley’s fourth foray all by himself.

"Dont believe everything you read on the internet,” he told them. What, including this story? Come on, Brett, stop messing with our minds! “Believe me, this is going to be a hard core 'R' Beverly Hills Cop. I start shooting next year."

And like that, he was gone. So there you have it, folks. Of course, there had been some doubt cast this week on the project, with Murphy earlier saying that he might be retiring from the business (presumably, he’d just seen Norbit) and that Beverly Hills Cop IV might not happen, because "the movie wasn't ready to be done."

But he’s a contrary sort, is Murphy – and today he was pulling a 180, telling MTV in a filmed interview that he wants to do a fourth film, to atone for the horror that was John Landis’ Beverly Hills Cop III. And quite rightly so, too.

RE: Give the guy a fucking break
No, he does not deserve one.  He and Murphy deserve all they get, I mean, have you seen the trailer for Dave? Title idea for the next movie "Beverley Hills Cunt:  I'm not your father" More

Give the guy a fucking break
ok, in all honesty, he is not a great director. He IS though a highly competent one, moreso than some of the chancers that have been given license to direct big budget fare (McG?????). He is as good as any John Badham, in that he is a safe pair of hands. And maybe BHC needs that. And kudos to ANY director who champions making adult films. I see Stallone as the Godhead with Rambo 4, Robert Rodriguez is the Crown Prince coz he can flip between Planet Terror, Spy Kids and Sin City. More

my arse
that photograph looks like rattner has 2 really weird ears. i don't get Rattner, all he ever does is talk about projects he's going to make then does nothing about it. he's like a big budget Kevin Smith. More

Oh Brett, what are you doing...
Tired tired tired... Tired of the rubbish by Brett Ratner... Tired of Eddie Murphy. I really enjoyed the other three films, but it's like the news of a Bros reunion, really just don't bother... More
