A Younger Capt. Kirk Cast In Star Trek
Yes, younger than Chris Pine

30 January 2008  |  Written by Olly Richards  |  Source: Coming Soon

Star Trek has gained another Captain Kirk. No, The Shat has not ended his minor squabbling with the movie and signed on for a cameo. Nor has Chris Pine been replaced as the yound adult head of the Enterprise. Instead, 11-year-old Jimmy Bennett (Poseidon) has been cast as a very young Kirk in J.J. Abrams series reboot, reports Coming Soon.

The movie already has an old, young and very young Spock. So will we be seeing junior versions of all the Enterprise crew? And has young Jimmy been practicing changing the rhythm of his sentences at random?

'Maybe we'll find out in flashback why James T Kirk's parents saddled him with the name Tiberius!' Marlo Well according to the intro of the novel for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, the name Tiberius came from our good ol' captain Kirks, mums love instructor. There you go.... More

Flashbacks
I hope this isn't going to be like an episode of Lost where the flachbacks show that by an amazing coincidence the crew's lives all kept intersecting before they met at Starfleet Acadamy - like they used to play with spaceships in the sandpit at nursery or something. Maybe we'll find out in flashback why James T Kirk's parents saddled him with the name Tiberius! Perhaps like the Beckhams they were on Holiday In Rome at the time of conception. More

Oh, methinks this does not bode well......
I'm looking forward to this film and all, and I liked the trailer, but kids in Star Trek, even in minor roles are seldom a Good Thing. Hopefully it'll only be a minor flashback or something. More

Not really...
Just to be pedantic he's not a young Captain Kirk, seeing as he's 11 it's very unlikely he's reached the rank of Captain - whoever wrote the headline should be shot with a phaser set on heavy stun :P More
