Movie version of Halo..
I reckon the studios are running scared - although it's a comic book adaptation - Superman Returns didn't exactly do the big bucks that, I presume, the studio expected. You only have to look at the worldwide box office returns relative to how much it took to make (adding in marketing costs as well..) and the profits are quite meagree by comparison.
I realise this is a video game adaptation but you would imagine this being lumped into a very similair genre. More

I dont think its the right time to make this video game into a movie yet, cause other game's were made years later after they were released, and I think other old classic video games like metroid prime should be made first. More

It remains a video game adaptation
Come on people! The fact that some major names are involved doesn't make this a good movie. Look at the past... Video game adaptations are doomed from the start. Speaking of doomed, I did like Doom - but only for its stupid premise. It didn't want to be more than it was. O, and Tomb Raider. Any movie with Angelina Jolie in tight clothes is worth watching. Right. More

RE: Halo
I like the HALO games, but they are very overrated. This decision seems right for Fox and Universal's point of view, having to shell out over $200 million for a movie in a genre which does not succeed with a first time director and having to give up 10% of the profits..seems totally insane to me, HALO is not guaranteed to be huge...it would probably gross around $500 million worldwide if it was very lucky. anybody who dissis halo obviously has absolutley no taste in games, and therefore cannot comment on game to movie adaptations, i agree the previous G>M have been terrible, but this is master chief! The man who can melee a grunt to death! or blow the Flood away with the ace shotgun! clearly any film that features the Master Chief must have some hope of completely PWNING. More

Played D.O.A......loved it
Seen the movie and hated it.
Games becoming movies is not a new concept but for the love of god some one get it right, Doom tried a bit of a different angle on it but the movie still didnt work for me.
And as far as Peter Jackson is concerned i think he could be the one to Pull off the best Game to Movie change over there is, because he certainly did it for novels..... More

If Peter Jackson buckled to Fox's demands this time it just would have led to more demands later on down the line. Sod 'em! Let the film go some place else. What i've seen of the little known Director is encouraging and with Peter Jackson so heavily involved it's sure to be a big hit for another studio instead. More

Studio's are scared of putting that amount of money into a game adaptation. From what I've read and seen is that Studio's still see game adaptations as silly things that only kids play where the demographic is between 10 to 25 year olds (which is a core cinema audience in my eyes, and why a new agency dealing with game to film adaptations has been set up for about a year).
The most successful so far has been the Resident Evil franchise, but they are indep More

Things like this make me sick, I never thought I'd see Jackson being in it just for the money, I thought he had some integritty, Of course the studios want the money, it's why they exist, but someone from a directing background should care more about the film being made than whether he gets a few extra mill to do fuck all with.
