Winona Ryder Mixes Sex And Death
Joining Daniel Waters' latest film

02 June 2006  |  Written by   |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Daniel Waters helped to launch Winona Ryder’s career by writing Heathers back in 1989. So itseems only fair that she’s joining his new film, the previously announced Sex And Death 101.

Simon Baker is already starring as a womanising bloke who receives a distinctly odd e-mail. This ‘net message lists every woman he’s ever had sex with – and every one he will sleep with in the future... As if that wasn’t disturbing enough, he’s also harangued by a feminist vigilante intent on punishing men she finds guilty of sex crimes against women.

Ryder is signing up to play the vigilante, and there’s also word that Julie Bowen, currently starring in US TV legal drama/comedy Boston Legal, will play number 29 on Baker’s mysterious list.

Producer Cary Brokaw (who helped fund Closer) got gushy over the screenplay with The Hollywood Reporter: “I fell in love with the script - it's smart, inventive and incredibly funny. It succeeds in being really funny, provocative and completely unpredictable, which for a romantic comedy is no small feat."

Waters – who previously directed the straight-to-video comedy Happy Campers – is already calling the shots in LA.
