Chadha Does Dallas
Bride & Prejudice director steps in

06 April 2006  |  Written by   |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

There was a bleak time there (okay, it was a couple of weeks, but still) where the world wondered if anyone would be found to take on the awesome challenge of directing the Dallas film.

Now one brave soul has stepped up to the challenge of replacing Monster-In-Law’s Robert Luketic. That hero is Gurinder Chadha.
Yes, the director of Bend It Like Beckham and Bride & Prejudice will bring her ensemble expertise to the Ewings.

She’ll step in to negotiations with the likely cast – which currently includes John Travolta, Jennifer Lopez and Luke Wilson, but we don’t yet know if she’ll overhaul the script.

DALL-ARSE
Somebody pinch me because i must be dreaming.....or rather having a nightmare worse than anything dreamed up by Wes Craven . This movie has to be the stupidest idea in hollywood EVER! Let me send a message to everybody involved RUN RUN RUN RUN! There is a reason your first director quit .....he probably had a flash of good sense ....or the offer to direct Monster in law 2. This is going to be the biggest mess any of you have ever been involved in and thats saying something when one of you More

Dallas is ludacris
I have to say, this has disaster written all over it. The show was of its day. It only worked because Larry Hagman was an asshole on the show and in real life and we all knew it. I can't wait to see how Gurinda manages to insert a scene where JR dances to appease the die-hard Travolta fans. More

Dallas for 21st century???
When I first heard of this film, I thought it was gonna be like other 70's tv series adapted into film, ones better than others... (Dukes of..., Charlie's Angels, The Mod Squad etc) which pretty much poke fun at either the genre or time... but finding it's gonna be a straight drama I cannot help but think it'll be troublesome to translate the background that made Dallas such a hit... the excess and glamour of the 80's into the 21st century... and J LO as Sue Ellen ??? I'll take Nicole Kidm More
