Malkovich Goes Bad
Playing The Mutant Chronicles' villain

27 March 2006  |  Written by   |  Source: The Hollywood Reporter

John Malkovich has a history of playing scheming, cool villains. Think Con Air. Think Teddy KGB in Rounders.

Now he’ll be playing post-apocalyptic evil in The Mutant Chronicles. The film already stars Thomas Jane as Major Mitch Hunter, a soldier trying to keep Earth from being overrun by evil NecroMutants. Malkovich will play Constantine, the nefarious CEO of a megacorporation (always bad seeds, that lot) who is planning to destroy the world and save the worthy, rich few.

Based on a role-playing adventure, the film is described by producer Edward Pressman as "more reminiscent of 28 Days Later than Blade Runner,” and is planned to shoot in London for a thrifty $30 million. The producer wants to use F/X technology similar to Sin City to create the war-ruined backdrops.

A God
I love that he gives me the creeps and yet is so sexy in his roles. I think he is one of the most watchable actors around and he is sorely underrated and undervalued. More

come on John
you're better than tripe than this. it sounds like Men In Black crossed with Riddick-and thats bad. particularly with the presence of Thomas "the best thing i've done sice Boogie Nights was one episode of Arrested Development"Jane it can only get worse More

RE: Malkovich Goes Bad?
Wasn't John Carpenter going to direct this way back when? Malkovich is always good value though. More

Malkovich Goes Bad?
He's already wayyyy beyond bad - just look at those eyes. Pure evil. I'm getting goose bumps just reading his name. More

Hmmm
A nutsoid Malkovitch villain, fine as long as it's "Con Air" villain stylee, not his atrocious turn in the risible "Rounders". More
